Wine Review – Columbia Crest Reserve 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon

Dear world,

I sipped and swirled with the tasting panel last week and I wanted to share with you one of my favorite wines from the session: Columbia Crest Reserve 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Here are my tasting notes (single blind) with comments and observations from the group sprinkled in:

Aromas of raspberries, blackberries, black currants, chocolate and Tiramisu.

Raspberries, chocolate and earthy black fruits on the palate followed up with spice. The tannins are robust, yet well-integrated. The wine is expressive and rich with structure.

I gave this wine a Gold rating. Here are the winemaker’s tasting notes. It retails for $40 and is “sold out” on the winery’s web site, but is most likely available through your local wine shop.

You may have heard of this Washington winery – In 2009, Wine Spectator named the 2005 Columbia Crest Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon as the #1 wine in the world. I find that Columbia Crest wines always provide great value for the quality they capture in the bottle.
